About FastTypings

FastTypings is a free competitive typing test. No account, no ads, no paywalls — just open the site and start typing. You get your WPM and accuracy instantly, and if you want to compete, a live global leaderboard is one click away.

Why We Built It

Most typing tests fall into one of two failure modes: they are either technically fine but completely boring (a text box on a white page, no feedback, no competition), or they are packed with ads, email gates, and upsell prompts that interrupt the experience every 90 seconds.

We wanted something that felt closer to a racing game than a HR compliance tool. Something fast to load, clean to look at, and genuinely competitive — where you can see other people typing in real time and actually feel the pressure of racing them.

So we built FastTypings. It is intentionally minimal: no profile pages, no achievement badges, no gamification loops designed to keep you on the site longer than you want to be. You come to type, you type, you see your score, you either race someone or you leave. That is it.

Who We Are

FastTypings is a small indie project. There is no venture capital, no growth team, and no product manager writing OKRs about session length. It is built and maintained by a tiny team that cares about fast, clean software and thinks competitive typing deserves a better home on the web.

We keep the service free because we believe good tools should not be paywalled. The site is supported by minimal, non-intrusive advertising which we introduce only when it does not degrade the typing experience.
